Belonging & Voice
MI PTA Council is proud to introduce the Belonging & Voice Community - formerly called the DEI Committee. The B&V Community has representatives on each school’s PTA Board, and this year we would like to invite interested parents/guardians to connect with us!
Join us for our first B&V Community Coffee on Oct 9 | 10 AM at the MI Community Center (Mercer Room). The purpose of this committee is to expand Belonging and elevate voices of underrepresented groups in our school communities.
The B&V Community’s goals are to:
-
Listen and connect with families of multiple backgrounds to understand the lived experience for students on Mercer Island
-
Provide support, and resources for families navigating the school system with various identities.
-
Strengthen partnerships between district administration, staff and parents/guardians to better serve students and increase cultural responsiveness for the benefit of all in our district.
-
Join with other advocacy organizations and families to promote the improvement of system wide changes benefiting all students in Mercer Island schools and across Washington.
